Tour Recap: Bassnectar, Dubstep Maniac
- Bassnectar shares the massiveness of what was his Spring 2012 “Vava Voom” Tour
In a 33-day, 22-show stint around North America, DJ and artist Bassnectar shares the behind-the-scenes madness of his Spring tour. In an interview with Rolling Stones magazine, the bass maker (born Lorin Ashton) says, “After playing Lolla[palooza] in Brazil, we hit the ground running with essentially five straight weeks of nonstop shows and travel and madness, and this little video shows a peek behind our biggest production to date.”
Bassnectar’s latest album, Vava Voom is in stores now.

With tons of new projects forthcoming and lots of dope music in my ear right now, I just realized I haven’t posted my favorite “new music” list since the beginning of April. For those who might of missed ‘em, here’s January, February and March –but the list is a short roundup highlighting my top LPs, EPs, singles, and mixtapes released throughout the month. New Music: Atlantic Connection – “Love Architect”
For one artist to incorporate the styles of drum n’ bass, house, dubstep and downtempo on a single album is one thing, but to do it smoothly and rather sexy-like, is positively another.
That being said, L.A.-based Atlantic Connection delivers the goods with ease on his new album Love Architect (out today!). And you can hear the DJ/producer’s sweet vibes below.
Jay-Z & Kanye West’s "Ni**as In Paris"
New Video: Rusko "Somebody To Love"
However, “Somebody To Love” hits iTunes on January 24th. Loves it!
New Music: Skream "Snarled"

“Land of the Lupes” dropped a couple of months ago as a free download from Bassnectar’s forthcoming project Cozza Frenzy (digital release: Sept 29/in stores: Oct 27), which is a fusion of dubstep, electro, hip hop, and various mixes of electronica. Quiet Color – House (& Dub) Report #5
Quiet Color – House and Dub Report #2
It’s that time again for my bi-weekly house and dub report at Quiet Color. This week’s artist are a mixup of progressive house, experimental sounds and dubstep: The Echologist, The Clonious and Bassnectar. Enjoy!
The House & Dub Report – Quiet Color
Since my teenage years, my affinity for music has crossed many many borders (sometimes, to my family and friends dismay) – mainly 70′s funk and soul and 80′s R&B but Prince, 90′s hip hop, Prince, neo-soul, jazz, electro funk, house and dub has been mainstays. With that said, starting this week I’ll be a bi-weekly House and Dub contributor at Quiet Color, a multi-media arts and indie music website here in Brooklyn. So check me out!
Benga "Crunked Up"
Lovin’ this track by English dubstep producer Benga. His album Diary of an Afro Warrior (Tempa) dropped last year; but def cop it and listen to “Crunked Up” “Someone 20″ and “Night” featuring Coki.
