Day 16 of 29 Days: Jasmine Guy, "Just Want to Hold You" (1990)

While starring in the spin-off to the popular NBC series The Cosby Show, A Different World actor and dancer Jasmine Guy eventually pursued a successful singing career. The ballad “Just Want to Hold You” comes from her 1990 self-titled Warner Brothers-debut. The LP also spawned two other R&B hits: “Try Me” and “Another Like My Lover.”
It’s funny to realize as an adult how much I loved slow, beautiful ballads as a teenager. And to this day, an R&B tune can most always find a special home in my heart.
