Day 17 of 29 Days; Perfect Gentlemen, RATED PG (1990)
Rated PG (Columbia) (1990)
Perfect Gentlemen were three kids from Boston made up of Corey Blakely, Maurice Starr Jr., and Tyrone Sutton. They were the third group under the reign of Maurice Starr, who was behind the pop careers of New Edition and New Kids On The Block. Unfortunately, Perfect Gentlemen had only one hit single, the cute “Ooh La La (I Can’t Get Over You)” from their 1990 debut Rated PG. Nonetheless, Rated PG included other cute cuts such as “OneMore Chance” and “Move Me Groove Me.” And yeah, I still own it on cassette!
I remember this Soul Train episode because I was about 15 at the time and my older brother Bobby, who was on the cusp of 18, watched it briefly with me. But I recall it because I was super-sensitive about him clowning them for wearing them suits with those damn socks!
