New music: Rebecca Ferguson “Nothing’s Real But Love”
Though she was the 7th season runner-up on The X-Factor UK in 2010, I only came across Rebecca Ferguson a few weeks ago, while watching an episode of VH1′s Basketball Wives. The British singer’s first single “Nothing’s Real But Love” was played during a scene on the show, with the song’s title broadcasted minutes later. Either way, Ferguson’s sound is a mashup of British pop and soul, akin to Adele and the late Amy Winehouse. But I’d also say Lisa Stansfield and Gabrielle because of their own soulful interpretation with music. Ferguson’s debut LP Heaven was released December of last year; with a U.S. street date of May 15, 2012.
